Eating in Santa Maria Cadiz

Molly Malone’s Bar at Puerto de Santa Maria

Yesterday we visited Molly Malones bar in El puerto de Santa Maria, the bar is located in the fuentebrabia area close to the naval base, and a short walk to the access of a quiet beach looking out to Cadiz.

The bar is Irish owned unlike most Irish bars in Spain, as you can see on the photos it is a very tradional Irish bar inside and out.

All the food coming out of the kitchen looked amazing, making our choice very difficult, the homemade burgers were huge and very very popular with the Spanish, American and European customers. I chose the chicken and bacon Caesar salad, my partner chose the roast beef dinner and for my 2 year old son we ordered him Irish sausages wrapped in bacon with chips (I was very tempted to help him eat his, but to my disappointment he ate it all), the portion sizes were just right and like other customers around us there was very very little left on our plates. The choices on the menu varied to suit all, from a curry to Shepard’s pie to steak, prices of the mains started from a respectable 8€, the kiddies menu also had lots of choice and came with a drink and a ice cream for 7€, if you have children you will agree that finding a restaurant with a children’s menu can be a challenge in this region.

The bar has wifi and shows all the major sports, a large selection of drinks and of course the menu with starters, mains and deserts.

The bar has a “fish & Ships” night every Wednesday and regular special nights to watch out for, when we was there the board were showing a special steak night on the following Friday. Keep your eye on our event page for their up and coming events.

We sat very comfortable and felt very welcome the whole time we were there and looking for to visiting again in the near future to sample their “Fish & Ships”.

Also in June their roof terrace will be opening.
