Mariposa Hotel, Malaga, Spain

If you want to visit the beautiful southern coast of Spain, then there is a good chance that you will be flying into Malaga. So why not make it easy for yourself by booking yourself a suitably luxurious stay in one of the city’s most desirable hotels – the Mariposa Hotel.

This beautiful four-star hotel is located in the heart of Malaga, and it’s easy just to take a quick walk to the vibrant main shopping street – Calle Larious. However, you will have a hard time leaving your room as the Mariposa Hotel is packed with all of the art deco charm and amenities that you could wish for.

We booked a week’s stay at the Mariposa Hotel through Booking.com and seriously enjoyed our time here. But if you are thinking about taking a trip to this sun-kissed city, then here are some of the key reasons that you should consider putting the Mariposa Hotel on your wish-list.

As soon as you walk through the doorways of the Mariposa Hotel, you will realise that this place has plenty of class. With bright colours reflecting the wonderful light of your Andalucian surroundings, it’s clear that this is not your standard holiday hotel. Art deco details make all the difference here, and the hotel itself was nicely kept up to date with all of the flatscreen televisions and amenities that you could wish for.

Holidays are all about relaxing and unwinding and it was great to see that the rooms at the Mariposa Hotel gave you plenty of opportunities for catching some shut-eye. The beds were thankfully very comfortable, the room was clean, and there was a free Wi-Fi connection so that you could boast about your Spanish adventure to friends and family back home.

The only real issue with the rooms was the fact that the lighting was a little dim, but with the famous Spanish sunshine illuminating everything perfectly, this was only a minor complaint. All in all, these cost rooms offered a good place to unwind after another busy day on the beach.

Food & Drink:

Malaga is famous for its wonderful cuisine, and there is no shortage of divine restaurants all located within easy walking distance. But sometimes, you will just want to take things a little easier by having your own feast within the hotel.

Thankfully, the Mariposa Hotel features the wonderful Le Rooftop restaurant that shows off the very best of Mediterranean cuisine. This offers a very tasty a la carte menu and it should have something for everyone.

But we should also mention the fact that there is also a great buffet breakfast that’s available every day. What’s best is that this is open until midday so you won’t have to worry too much about setting an alarm clock on your holiday. Oh, and the coffee is amazing too.

Staff:

We couldn’t have been happier with the way that we were treated by the staff at the Mariposa Hotel in Malaga. It was great to find that they could speak English well, and they made us feel very welcome.

Staff-members like Cyrielle and Monica were very helpful in helping us make the most out of our time in Malaga. But to be honest, we really didn’t need too much assistance as everything in the Mariposa Hotel was laid out in the ways that we’d expect.

This meant that you could enjoy everything from the ironing service to the air conditioning without too much stress, and it’s small details like this that can make or break a relaxing holiday in the sun.

Entertainment:

As the Mariposa Hotel is located in the heart of the vibrant city of Malaga, you shouldn’t be stuck for things to do. But it’s nice to find that the Mariposa Hotel give you the option of taking part in a tour so that you can find out a little more about the local culture of the area. In addition to this, you can also take a fun bike tour or even hire bikes which is definitely a better idea than trying to get a hire car to navigate the city streets.

We should also mention that the Mariposa Hotel has all of the wellness facilities that you could ever wish for. Whether you are getting a full-body massage, are enjoying the solarium, or are just basking in the many sun loungers, you should have everything you need to feel suitably pampered.

Above all, a stay about the Mariposa Hotel is all about sitting on the lovely sun terrace with a nice glass of wine rather than being treated to a gaudy cabaret show. A great place to relax in the sunshine.

Out & About:

You can’t come to a city like Malaga and not visit the many wonderful beaches that are located handily nearby. Pick of the bunch has to be the stunning La Malagueta beach that has all of the golden sands that you could wish for, but be sure to check out the San Andres beach too that has plenty of fun water sports options.

In terms of historical sites, Malaga has plenty to offer. The magnificent Malaga Cathedral is less than half a mile away from the hotel. But if you are in the mood for a bit of culture, then take the time to visit the interesting Picasso Museum that shows off many of the best works by this legendary modern artist.

But ultimately, a stay in Malaga is all about enjoying the wonderful lifestyle of Andalucia. Whether it’s tucking into a sumptuous paella in a chic back-street restaurant, or enjoying the many boutique shops that are in the city centre, you are sure of a great time in Malaga. And with the options of having fun on the beach, or just retiring for a well-earned rest back at the Mariposa Hotel, it seems that if you are looking for a sun-filled holiday, then a trip to Malaga is hard to beat.
