Royal Madeleine Hotel, Paris, France

Paris is easily one of the world’s favourite cities. With iconic sights like the Eiffel Tower, the Notre Dame cathedral and that famous Parisian romance on offer, we thought that we were well overdue a trip to this beautiful city.

We decided to check out what hotels were available on Booking.com, and it looked like the Royal Madeleine Hotel was getting some rave reviews. Many previous guests had given the hotel some great ratings for the quality of its location and its rooms. Plus the fact that the Royal Madeleine Hotel even featured an exclusive spa meant that we couldn’t resist booking a couple of nights here. Keep reading to see how the Royal Madeleine fared in our review.

Rooms:

We caught the Eurostar train to the Gard du Nord station in Paris, and then it was just a quick taxi ride to the Royal Madeleine Hotel. By the time that we got to the room we were fairly exhausted, but thankfully, there was a very comfortable bed waiting for us.

It looks like the Royal Madeleine Hotel has been recently refurbished and everything felt clean and up to date. There was air conditioning in our room, along with a handy desk and a nice flat-screen television with all of the satellite TV channels that you’d expect.

Everything from the private bathroom to the free Wi-Fi service seemed to work fine, but it was the overall atmosphere of the Royal Madeleine Hotel that really impressed. Whilst many big hotels can feel like a rabbit warren, this place always felt nicely relaxed and we were able to get a good night’s sleep that was so necessary for a holiday in a bustling city like Paris.

If you are a looking for one good reason why you should check into the Royal Madeleine Hotel, it’s their in-house restaurant. The Restaurant Royal has a great a la carte menu that showcases some of the best European cuisine around. Whilst the surrounding area is packed with all of the bistros that you could dream of, sometimes it was nice to just head to a restaurant like this for a relaxing time after a busy day’s sightseeing.

In order to set you up for the day, you could get the breakfast delivered up to your room. This also takes account of any special dietary requests which was a thoughtful touch for us. Plus with a nice little bar on hand to celebrate another great day in the city, it’s nice to find that the Royal Madeleine Hotel like to take care of their guests.

Staff:

We found the staff at the Royal Madeleine to be super helpful and accommodating. Even the check-in procedure proved to be surprisingly welcoming thanks to the likes of Antoine on the reception desk. We couldn’t fault how clean how beautiful and clean the rooms were and the staff all seemed to speak English so that there weren’t any language issues.

There were plenty of extra services on offer at the Royal Madeleine that should prove helpful for many guests. From the daily maid service and the concierge service, to the free luggage storage and the 24-hour front desk, we always felt like our needs were being met, no matter what time of day it was.

Entertainment:

As the Royale Madeleine is a city centre hotel, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to find that there’s not much in the way of night-time entertainments. But don’t forget that you are within easy walking distance of some of the world’s best nightlife with the likes of the Opera Garnier and La Cigale Concert Hall just minutes away.

But our favourite way to keep ourselves occupied at the Royal Madeleine was to visit their incredible spa facilities. This includes a sauna, fitness centre, swimming pool, and you can even book yourself a massage which would be a great idea after a long day of walking about the Paris city centre.

Attractions:

There are so many reasons why you should visit Paris at least once in your life, and the Royal Madeleine Hotel is perfectly situated to help you make the most of this charming city. We were impressed to find that we were in the middle of a lovely shopping district with the famous Galeries Lafayette and Printemps department stores only just a short walk away.

Whilst the area is packed with fancy boutiques selling the wares of brands like Gucci and Ralph Lauren, there were plenty of chic independent shops too and it was easy to spend a lot of money without meaning it here.

We liked the way that the Royal Madeleine Hotel was nicely positioned between all of the biggest landmarks in Paris. There was a lovely walk to be had up through Montmartre to enjoy the spectacular views from the Sacre Coeur. Just make sure that you stop off at one of the enchanting cafes on the way up the fairly steep hill.

The hotel is also just a fifteen minute walk away from the world-famous Louvre museum. Obviously, you will have to fight past the crowds to get a glimpse of the Mona Lisa, but like all of the main sights in Paris, it can be worth getting up early to beat the rush.

Above all, it’s just nice to stay in the area around the hotel. Chic cafes like Cafe Sud are a great place to pass the time, and you could always walk around the corner to the Fouchon Paris supermarket where you can stock up on some lovely French produce to take to make yourself a picnic in the beautiful Tuileries Gardens.

Obviously, there’s no shortage of choice when it comes to picking the ultimate hotel in Paris. But if you are looking for a stylish place in the centre of the city with friendly staff and an excellent spa, then it’s hard to beat the Royal Madeleine Hotel.
