Kalithea, Rhodes

Choosing a wedding abroad can be such a daunting task. Which country? Who can help? Where do I start?

My brother and sister-in-law have just gone through these decisions, they chose a family holiday to Rhodes, a Greek island, in 2017 to look at choices for their wedding abroad. After trying to organize the wedding themselves, they decided to use a wedding planner. They chose a small, local business called Unforgettable Rhodes Weddings, who gave them a list of potential wedding venues to visit at and sent them on their way. After a few days driving to various locations they almost gave up looking until they visited Kalithea Springs, a historical landmark.

Kalithea Springs are located at the bay of the town itself, just 9 kilometres from Rhodes town. The thermal springs of Kalithea were used by the Italians in the early 20th century, they springs were completely restored around 10 years ago and now attract many tourists, visiting from all over the world. There’s a lovely restaurant at the side of the bay, which is open from 9:00 am until late in the evening.

On the big day we had taxis and a wedding car collect us from our hotel. Arriving at the springs felt really special and as we walked towards the other guest who were waiting for the stunning bride, the sea views were amazing. The beautiful flooring is tiled with a mosaic pattern using tiny upright, black and white pebbles which must have taken years to complete. They had their ceremony under the dome and everything was perfect. We had a few photos taken around the springs by the professional photographer before being led to the bay where the private yacht from m/y Anastasia Cruises awaited us. We were taken to the after party by sea, and enjoyed relaxing drinks on the cruise. We were taken to the location chosen for the reception and transferred into smaller boats to take us to shore. The reception venue, Tsambikos Taverna, was equally picturesque with panoramic views of the sea, we ate beautiful tradition Greek food before they played traditional music, and the Greek dancers were very good indeed.

The perfect place for a perfect couple.
