Best Romantic European Getaways for 2018-2019

Whether it’s wine and dining, walking hand in hand or just watching the sun go down together, our romantic European locations are sure to get those sparks flying!

Rome, Italy

With its world-renowned Colosseum and more than 3000 years of art and architecture, there’s no better place for romantic sightseeing than Rome. Rome is home to some of the most beautiful buildings in the world and some of the most notable places to visit are the 18th century Trevi Fountain, the 2000 year old temples of Roman Forum (picture above) and, of course, the ancient gladiator arena which is the Colosseum itself.

Dining in Rome can’t get any finer than La Pegola, which is the only restaurant in the city to hold 3 Michelin stars and if expense is not important, you should always experience the finest food and drink in the city. La Pegola has one of the largest wine selections in Rome and also has an extensive selection of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and coffee. The food is amazing and it’s easy to understand why this is amongst the top restaurants worldwide.

The most luxurious hotel in the city is La Scelta di Goethe. Located in Campo Marzo, not far from the Spanish Steps, and with only 2 suites, it’s sure to kindle romance. They offer guests the opportunity to book both suites so you can have the whole place to yourselves, or you can book either the attic floor “Suite Villa Medici” or the super-attic floor “Suite Trinità dei Monti” individually. Each suite has its own 24 hour chef and butler service and the decor and furnishings are magnificent.

Paris, France

Eiffel Tower, Paris, France

Une femme est plus belle que le monde! Which is why you should take her to one of the finest restaurants in Paris, Le Jules Verne is a Michelin star located in the second floor of the iconic Eiffel Tower and offers the finest French cuisine and most beautiful views of the city. In the evenings you will be guided through an exceptional 5 or 6 course experience and to accompany this, the sommelier will guide you through perfect food-wine pairing with a wine course suggestion. During the week you can escape the busy city for a 3 course lunch of French cuisine classics reinterpreted with contemporary flair which is sure to impress.

Our favourite Hotel for romance is the Le Royal Monceau which offers Michelin star dining. Near to the Arc de Triomphe de l’Étoile, one of the most famous monuments in Paris, this hotel has luxury spacious rooms of modern art and design, an amazing spa and even a private cinema where you can enjoy a deluxe screening to wrap up the weekend on Sunday. A little further out is the luxurious and more affordable citizenM Paris Gare de Lyon, is set in the 12th district of Paris and offers breath taking views of the river Seine.

Venice, Italy

Grand Canal, Venice, Italy

While its name doesn’t do it justice, the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice is one of our favorite hotels in Venice, it is an old flour mill refurbished and transformed into a unique and beautiful hotel. Located on the north coast of Giudecca Island, it offers some of the most beautiful views from its romantic rooftop bar. Being such a small part of Italy and having around 20 places to eat in Venice, it’s difficult to choose our favorite, but if we have to it would be Bistrot de Venise. They server traditional Venetian dishes, and offer a choice of more than 60 wines which can be ordered by the bottle or by the glass.

There’s nothing more romantic than floating down the Grand Canal in a gondola, under the Rialto Bridge and out to the lagoon under a moonlit sky in Venice. #heaven.

Amsterdam, Holland

Canal in Amsterdam

Amsterdam in the evening is one of the most romantic cities in Europe. The lights around the arches of bridges form beautiful rings of reflection on the water which has a feeling of peace and tranquillity as you walk around the Emperor’s and Brewer’s canal. The city landscape can really be enjoyed with a private canal cruise day or night except in winter, when the canal freezes over, sailing is forbidden and the canal and it is instead used for ice skating. The city is full of elegant architecture and the cobble walkways offer a real feeling of nostalgia, while a walk around the flower market or a free guided tour of one of its diamond factories is sure to invoke your happiness together.

The Michelin starred Ciel Bleu, which is French for “blue heaven”, is our favorite restaurant. Located on the 23rd floor of Hotel Okura it offers both an amazing dining experience and an amazing view of the city.

Prague, Czech Republic

Prague

The number one place to visit in Prague for couples in love is Petřín Park. With its amazing views of the city, Petrin Park is a place where you’re likely to see local couples walking hand in hand and enjoying the garden scenery. If you’d like to see some of the history of Prague then a guided tour in the back of a vintage car while chauffeured around the city centre is a perfect way to spend the afternoon together.

You’ll enjoy dining at the modern Terasa u Zlate Studne restaurant, which is located on the 4th floor of the beautiful Golden Well Hotel but if you’d prefer to woo with Michelin star there’s always The Alcron restaurant, which was awarded Michelin stars in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and offers a 5 course menu.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen

Nimb Hotel located in Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen, has to be the most amazing hotel in the city. This impressive Moorish-style building looks like a mystic palace, while the modern interior design compliments the hotel perfectly. The Geranium restaurant serves perfect food and, being strangely located on the 8th floor of Denmark’s national football stadium, the multi-course set menu will have you dribbling for more.
